I ate: Sungai Besi Wantan Mee

I first heard of this elusive eat out spot as one of the must go destinations for late night grim eaters infected with a bad case of the munchies in the wee hours of the morning. Sungai Besi Wantan Mee as its simply called would have been easily passed off as a small time stall weaved in between a row of car accessory shops. But judging by the crowd that night it surely isnt a small time affair from the number of plates served up each night.

Though it opens till late hours and grim eating wasnt the main priority of the day we arrived when the stall was just about to begin. As the name suggests the stall specializes in selling wantan noodles. Served up with a number of variations ranging from the usual wantan, chicken feet, mushroom, shredded chicken meat as well as more unique selections including hakka pork stew, pork leg and their signature wild boar curry.

Starting off the day on a right foot would have been equivalent to starting off this week with a good plate of porky goodness which i opted for in their wild boar curry and wantan mee.
As for side dishes which we shared to order included roast pork and char siew as well as a sumptious bowl of sui kow.

The noodles here itself was pretty good with the correct amount of elasticity that i was seeking, drizzled sufficiently with dark soy sauce. As for the main focus of the dish, the wild boar curry didnt dissapoint either with its lean, soft texture and a good depth of flavour of
the curry broth made it really palatable.

With the sui kow which was stuffed with shrimp, water chest nuts and pork was in hand to cool the heat from the curry. The char siew and siew yuk itself was nothing to shout about.

Though slightly more expensive compared to other famous wantan noodle stalls around KL it stills make a good eatery to fill late night cravings. Its open till around 3am probably suitable for workers or clubbers to dock off on their way back home.
